The Impact of Enterprise Operation on the Entrepreneurial Skills of the Alumni Batch 2025 of St. Mary's College Inc., Quezon City

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education emphasizes the development of practical skills through experiential learning strategies, such as business simulations. The Enterprise Operation is a performance task in Entrepreneurship 12 where students simulate running a small business by managing finances, marketing products, and making operational decisions. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Enterprise Operation in developing the entrepreneurial skills of the students of Alumni Batch 2025. The study employs a quantitative research design using an online survey distributed through Google Forms. Thirty Grade 12 alumni from different academic strands participate using voluntary response sampling. The survey measures the contribution of the Enterprise Operation to financial management, marketing, operational, and decision-making skills, as well as its advantages and challenges. Descriptive statistics are used to analyze the data. Evaluation form results completed by students immediately after the actual simulation are also utilized to support the survey findings. The findings revealed that the Enterprise Operation made a high to very high contribution to the development of entrepreneurial skills. Operational skills received the highest mean score (4.30), followed by decision-making and marketing skills (both 4.17), and financial management (4.13). Respondents strongly agreed that the simulation was engaging, realistic, and more effective than traditional classroom instruction. However, participants frequently experienced challenges such as time pressure, cognitive overload, group dynamics issues, and technical or operational concerns. Lastly, evaluation results from the previous school year further supported these findings, showing an overall rating of "Outstanding." The results indicated that the hands-on nature of the Enterprise Operation significantly enhanced students' understanding of real-world business operations. The high ratings across all entrepreneurial skills suggested that simulation-based learning effectively bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. However, the frequent experience of time pressure and interpersonal challenges highlighted the need for improved planning, time management, and group coordination. In summary, the study confirmed that the Enterprise Operation was an effective and useful experiential learning strategy that developed both technical and interpersonal entrepreneurial competencies among students.
