Abstract

This study assesses college readiness among Grade 12 students across different strands at St. Mary's College Inc. through archival ARC test data. Results identify Filipino as a primary strength, while most students are classified as "Approaching Target Proficiency" in Humanities and Social Sciences, indicating basic knowledge without higher-order mastery. Literature remains the most critical gap, requiring urgent intervention in synthesis and critical reading. Ultimately, targeted academic support is needed to bridge these gaps. This study uses a quantitative descriptive design to assess college readiness among Grade 12 students at St. Mary's College Inc. The researchers analyze archival Grade 11 ARC Achievement Test data across seven subjects aligned with CHED standards. The sample includes students from the STEM, ABM, HumSS, and GAS strands. Using frequency counts and percentages, the study evaluates proficiency levels to identify academic trends and gaps across different strands. This study analyzed college readiness across Grade 12 strands at St. Mary's College Inc. Results showed Filipino as a universal strength, but significant gaps existed in higher-order skills, particularly in Literature and Social Studies. STEM led with 44% readiness, while ABM reached 35%. HumSS faced a 47% deficiency in Literature, and GAS showed the lowest readiness at 20%. Findings suggested that students had basic knowledge but required intervention in critical reading and synthesis for university-level learning. ARC results for St. Mary's College Inc. revealed moderate college readiness, with most students classified as "Approaching Target Proficiency." While Filipino was a universal strength, highlighted by ABM's 100% proficiency, significant gaps existed in higher-order thinking. STEM led in overall readiness but struggled with Literature and specialized Math. HumSS and ABM showed major deficiencies in critical synthesis, while GAS required the most intervention, particularly in Social Studies, where 62% were classified as critical.
