Abstract
This study aims to determine the impact of student teaching on learners' academic performance, engagement, and motivation, as well as to identify the challenges experienced by student teachers during their practicum. The research focuses on how student teaching contributes to both the learning outcomes of students and the professional growth of pre-service teachers. The study employs a quantitative descriptive method, utilizing a researcher-made questionnaire distributed to selected respondents. The data are analyzed using frequency, percentage, and weighted mean to interpret the results objectively. Findings reveal that student teaching has a positive impact on learners' academic performance, and it also enhances student engagement and motivation. Moreover, the experience contributes to the confidence and professional growth of student teachers. However, challenges such as classroom management difficulties, lesson delivery issues, and teaching-related anxiety are also identified. Based on the findings, it is concluded that student teaching plays a vital role in developing the competencies of future educators. The study recommends continuous mentorship, enhanced training programs, and extended practicum periods to further improve the quality of student teaching and better prepare education students for the professional field. This study uses the descriptive quantitative method. The participants of this study are 21 education students from St. Mary's College Inc., Quezon City, who are currently in the Teacher Education program. The main instrument of this study is a researcher-made questionnaire. The questionnaires are distributed to the respondents through Google Forms and shared via class groups. The results are analyzed using frequency, percentage, and weighted mean to identify the learning experiences of student teaching inside the classroom. N/A The results revealed that student teachers faced common challenges in adapting to different learners, managing the classroom, and developing confidence and teaching depth. These challenges underscored the essence of learning beyond the classroom, as stated in the study's title, emphasizing that true teaching competence developed through continuous experience, reflection, and mentorship.
