Abstract
The physical environment of a classroom plays a significant role in shaping students' learning experiences and academic performance. This study examines students' perceptions of how various classroom design elements, such as layout, lighting, ventilation, seating arrangement, noise levels, cleanliness, and access to learning resources, affect their ability to focus and learn effectively. The research aims to identify which elements students consider most influential and determine their overall impact on academic performance. A descriptive research design is used, involving 35 college students from St. Mary's College Inc., Quezon City. Data are gathered through a researcher-made survey questionnaire distributed via Google Forms, using a five-point Likert scale. The responses are analyzed using frequency, percentage, and weighted mean to measure students' level of agreement. Findings revealed that classroom layout was the most influential factor in improving students' concentration, followed by proper lighting and adequate ventilation. Organized seating, sufficient space for movement, and comfortable furniture were also found to enhance engagement and participation. Although aesthetic elements, such as color, were considered important, students prioritized functional aspects that directly supported learning. Some challenges, including overcrowding and noise distractions, were also noted. Overall, the results indicated that well-designed classroom environments positively influenced students' motivation, focus, and academic performance. The study highlighted the importance of improving physical learning spaces to support effective teaching and learning.
