Abstract

Traffic regulation comprises a system of rules designed to ensure the safe and orderly movement of both vehicles and pedestrians. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of traffic regulations in Barangay Sauyo, Quezon City, by examining contributing factors such as road conditions, driver behavior, and enforcement practices. It further investigates the strategies and methods employed by traffic enforcers to implement these regulations and assesses their influence on overall road safety and public compliance. A descriptive research design was employed to gather and analyze data, offering a detailed view of the behaviors, characteristics, and experiences of the study’s target population. Surveys were used to collect relevant information from respondents, providing insights into current traffic apprehension practices and identifying areas that require policy or operational improvements. The study analyzed responses from 100 participants. Age distribution revealed that 7% were aged 18–25, 31% were between 26–33, 26% were aged 34–41, and only 4% were aged 42–50. Regarding sex, 72% of respondents were male and 28% female. Educational attainment data showed that 46% were high school graduates. One of the most significant findings was that 85% of respondents identified driver hostility toward traffic enforcers as a major issue during citation issuance, highlighting a barrier to effective law enforcement in the area. The study recommends implementing comprehensive training programs for traffic enforcers, with a focus on conflict resolution, communication skills, and emotional intelligence. These interventions are intended to equip enforcers with the tools necessary to de-escalate confrontational situations and foster more respectful interactions with motorists. Such improvements may lead to more effective enforcement of traffic regulations and a safer road environment in Barangay Sauyo, Quezon City.
