Abstract

Maintaining public safety and reducing crime are primary responsibilities of law enforcement agencies. This study evaluates the effectiveness of police patrol operations at Quezon City Police Station 4 (Novaliches) in fulfilling these objectives. Specifically, it investigates how patrol strategies contribute to crime deterrence, improved community safety, and strengthened public confidence in local policing efforts. A quantitative-descriptive research design is employed in this study to assess the efficiency of various police patrol strategies. Data are collected through survey questionnaires distributed to 50 respondents, comprising 20 police officers and 30 community members. The strategies evaluated include preventive patrols, the application of the Koper Curve Theory, police omnipresence, and low-profile policing. The responses are analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the perceived effectiveness of these approaches. The findings reveal that increased police presence significantly contributes to crime reduction and enhanced public safety. Preventive patrol strategies are rated as very effective when implemented consistently. Both police officers and community members recognize the Koper Curve Theory as an essential tactic for maximizing visibility and optimizing patrol deployment. Areas with regular police visibility reportedly foster a heightened sense of security among residents, reinforcing the value of police omnipresence. Additionally, low-profile policing proves to be an effective complementary approach, allowing discreet monitoring of potential criminal activity while maintaining positive community relations. Overall, the results suggest that integrating visible and discreet policing strategies can improve operational efficiency and foster trust between law enforcement and the community. This study recommends the strategic enhancement of police patrol operations in Novaliches through the integration of technological tools such as crime mapping systems and CCTV surveillance. It also underscores the importance of ongoing officer training, inter-agency collaboration, and community engagement. The adoption of proactive approaches such as intelligence-led policing and data-driven strategies is encouraged to further strengthen patrol effectiveness, improve public trust, and ensure a safer environment for the residents of Novaliches.
