Abstract

This study focuses on enhancing crime prevention and detection through collaboration and information sharing in Barangay Payatas B, Quezon City. It aims to deepen understanding of community-based strategies that foster a cooperative relationship between residents and law enforcers. By proposing a community-driven approach, the study seeks to promote a safer environment through joint efforts and transparent communication. The research targets the development of actionable strategies that empower both the community and authorities in addressing crime effectively. A descriptive research design utilizing a quantitative approach was adopted for this study. The researchers applied purposive sampling to select 40 respondents, consisting of 20 law enforcers and 20 barangay residents. Prior to data collection, formal approvals were secured from the Dean of the College of Criminology and Barangay Payatas B. Upon approval, survey questionnaires were distributed to the selected respondents to gather data on their perceptions and experiences regarding crime prevention, community collaboration, and information sharing. The results indicated that educating communities on crime prevention strategies was perceived to contribute to safer neighborhoods, with a weighted mean of 3.05. Regular community dialogues and outreach programs received the highest weighted mean of 3.77, reflecting strong agreement on their effectiveness in enhancing trust and cooperation between the community and law enforcement. Training residents on responding to crimes and emergencies scored a weighted mean of 2.90, showing agreement on its importance. These findings highlight the value of continuous education, communication, and preparedness in crime prevention efforts. The top policy recommendation identified by respondents was securing government and private sector funding to support crime prevention technologies and training, with a frequency of 35 (11.40%). This underscores the need for resource investment in building stronger community-police partnerships and equipping both sectors with tools to improve crime detection and response. The study concludes that effective crime prevention in local communities depends on proactive collaboration, regular communication, and shared responsibility between residents and law enforcement.
