Abstract

Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, is among the most densely populated communities in the Philippines. Due to rapid urbanization, inadequate infrastructure, and congested residential areas, the barangay remains highly vulnerable to fire incidents. Common causes include faulty electrical wiring, unsafe handling of flammable materials, and a general lack of fire safety awareness. These incidents have led to significant property loss, displacement of residents, and occasional fatalities. This study aims to assess the impact of innovative fire prevention training programs in reducing fire-related incidents and improving community preparedness. The study utilizes a descriptive research design to gather and analyze non-numerical data related to community experiences and perceptions of fire safety. Data collection methods include surveys and direct observations conducted among residents of Barangay 176. The goal is to gain in-depth insights into the effectiveness of fire prevention programs, including evacuation drills, equipment usage, and emergency preparedness initiatives. The results indicate that 94% of respondents acknowledged the effectiveness of emergency evacuation procedures during fire drills, reflecting improved cooperation between residents and fire safety personnel. The majority strongly agreed on the importance of ongoing fire safety measures, including regular drills, investment in safety equipment, and proactive emergency planning. These findings highlight the significant influence of training programs in fostering a culture of preparedness and reducing the occurrence and impact of fire incidents within the community. The findings emphasize the need for continuous and inclusive fire prevention education. Training programs should ensure equal participation among all sectors of the community. To reinforce these efforts, it is recommended that institutions such as Bestlink College of the Philippines integrate fire safety into their curriculum, conduct regular drills, and collaborate with local fire authorities for practical training. Additionally, the implementation of community-wide awareness campaigns, workshops, and seminars is crucial to strengthening knowledge and adherence to fire prevention protocols.
