Abstract

Office environments play a critical role in shaping employee behavior, influencing productivity, engagement, and job satisfaction. The design of office spaces affects how individuals perform their tasks, maintain focus, and interact with their surroundings. This study aims to evaluate the extent to which office design impacts employee productivity at XY Company in Mandaluyong City. Specifically, the research examines how office layout, furniture, and technology contribute to employee performance. The hypothesis is that a well-organized and ergonomically supportive workspace promotes greater motivation and efficiency among employees. The study utilizes a descriptive and quantitative research design to gather numerical data from twenty-five employees through survey questionnaires. A nonprobability purposive sampling method was applied to select participants with relevant experience and familiarity with the work environment. The researchers used the Pearson correlation coefficient to determine the statistical relationship between elements of office design and employee productivity. The findings revealed that most of the respondents were female, aged 25 to 34, and held administrative positions. The office layout at XY Company was perceived as supportive of collaboration but presented challenges in terms of accessibility. Employees reported that organized workspaces and ergonomic furniture contributed positively to their comfort, though improvements were suggested in the areas of workspace personalization, technological efficiency, and minimizing distractions. Statistical analysis showed a weak correlation (r = 0.1937) and a p-value of 0.231072, indicating no significant relationship between office design and employee productivity. Despite the lack of a statistically significant correlation, the findings suggest that office design still plays an important role in employee satisfaction and workplace efficiency. Recommendations include revising the current layout to improve accessibility, enhance movement flow, and reduce workplace distractions. An improvement plan is proposed to support a more conducive work environment that may lead to better overall employee performance and morale.
