Abstract
This study investigates the rising incidence of motorcycle accidents in Barangay Kaligayahan, Novaliches, Quezon City. Motorcycle accidents are a serious concern, often resulting in severe injuries, financial burdens, and emotional trauma. Understanding their impact is essential for helping victims navigate the aftermath and for informing effective preventive measures. The research aims to identify the causes and consequences of motorcycle accidents in the area, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of existing traffic safety measures. The researchers used a quantitative, descriptive research design to gather detailed data. A survey was conducted with 30 respondents, including motorcycle riders, traffic law enforcers, and residents. Additionally, in-depth interviews were administered to a separate group of 30 respondents, consisting of 10 motorists, 10 traffic enforcers, and 10 residents. The results indicate that the rising number of motorcycle accidents in Barangay Kaligayahan is primarily attributed to reckless driving, poor road conditions, inadequate traffic enforcement, and a lack of safety awareness among motorcycle riders. These accidents often result in physical injuries, emotional trauma, and significant economic burdens for victims and their families. The study recommends enforcing stricter traffic laws and regulations, improving road infrastructure, and conducting safety awareness programs for motorcycle riders. The findings contribute to the development of evidence-based policies and interventions aimed at reducing motorcycle accidents and promoting road safety in Barangay Kaligayahan and other similar urban communities.
