Abstract

This study investigated the impact of the Bureau of Fire Protection’s “Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan” program on the residents of Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City. Its purpose is to evaluate the program’s effectiveness in reducing fire incidents, enhancing community preparedness, and increasing awareness of fire safety. Specifically, The study aimed to assess the implementation of “Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan” in Barangay Tandang Sora. The primary goal of descriptive research is to better understand concepts, opinions, or experiences through the collection and analysis of non-numerical data. The respondents consisted of three groups totaling fifty (50) individuals: 10 Barangay officials, 35 residents, and 5 Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) officers. The study was conducted in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City. The researchers used a stratified sampling technique to determine the appropriate number of respondents for the study. Data collection involved personally approaching residents of Barangay Tandang Sora. The researchers formulated the following conclusions based on the summary of findings: Most respondents are aged 18–25 years old, male, single, at the college level, and have served for 1 to 3 years. The respondents’ assessment of the Bureau of Fire Protection’s “Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan” implementation in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City, is interpreted as “Highly Effective” in terms of fire prevention and fire safety awareness. The most frequently encountered problem in fire prevention and awareness is “congested roads and inaccessible fire-prone areas.” To address these challenges, the study proposes implementing continuous training and development programs for BFP personnel, installing additional fire hydrants, and advocating for increased budget allocation for fire safety initiatives. Additionally, improved coordination with local water authorities and seeking external financial support are necessary to strengthen fire prevention efforts. Proposed Enhancements for the Implementation of Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan by the Bureau of Fire Protection in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
