Abstract

The Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (B.P.A.T.) serves a critical function in Nagkaisang Nayon, Quezon City, addressing drug‑related offenses, petty theft, domestic abuse, and other community disorders. This study assessed B.P.A.T.’s operational efficiency by examining its organizational structure, resource allocation, personnel training, coordination with law enforcement agencies, and program effectiveness. The focus is on community engagement, crime prevention, and incident response to determine how these activities contribute to overall barangay safety and security. This study employed a quantitative descriptive research design and purposive sampling to select respondents with relevant experience. A total of 50 participants—25 B.P.A.T. personnel and 25 barangay residents—completed a structured questionnaire assessing perceptions of B.P.A.T.’s crime prevention, problem‑solving, and crime reduction efforts. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to evaluate operational efficiency indicators. Respondents strongly agreed that B.P.A.T. exhibited high operational efficiency in crime prevention, crime resolution, and crime reduction activities. The most frequently cited challenge was a lack of knowledge about emerging crime‑prevention strategies. An action plan recommending targeted seminars and training was proposed, and subsequent evaluation confirmed improved knowledge among B.P.A.T. personnel in preventive techniques. B.P.A.T.’s strongest performance was in crime prevention and reduction, while crime resolution scored lowest (mean = 3.20, agree). Implementation of the proposed training and seminar program led to measurable gains in personnel competence. These findings suggest that ongoing capacity building and knowledge enhancement are essential for strengthening B.P.A.T.’s ability to resolve incidents and further improve community safety.
