Abstract

The core responsibility of police organizations is to safeguard the rights and property of individuals while maintaining public order and community safety. Police officers are tasked with preventing and investigating crimes, ensuring the protection and well-being of citizens. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of law enforcement practices in reducing crime rates in Barangay Muzon, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. This study adopted a quantitative research approach to identify patterns, correlations, and trends by collecting and analyzing numerical data. It relies on objective measurements and statistical analysis to test hypotheses and draw conclusions. The researchers used purposive sampling, a non-probability technique where participants are deliberately selected based on specific characteristics or criteria relevant to the research objectives. Most of the respondents were 26–33 years old, male, single, and had over 11 years of service or residency in Barangay Muzon, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. Their assessment of police practices in the area indicated a strong agreement with the implementation of hotspot policing, police visibility, stop-and-search operations, and police-community collaborative initiatives. However, a key issue identified was the inadequate attention given to the needs of vulnerable populations. To address this, the study recommends the immediate introduction of specialized training for police officers and the establishment of dedicated units or programs focused on assisting vulnerable groups. Furthermore, targeted interventions should be developed and implemented to ensure that local law enforcement prioritizes the protection and safety of these individuals. The discussion highlights a summary of the key findings and conclusions from the study, which evaluated police practices in Barangay Muzon, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. A primary issue identified was the inadequate response to the needs of vulnerable populations, with 27 out of 50 respondents (54%) reporting this concern. The chapter also provides recommendations for both community members and law enforcement agencies to improve service delivery and enhance public safety through more inclusive and responsive policing strategies.
