Abstract

This study explored the effectiveness of community policing in Novaliches Proper, Quezon City, by evaluating its impact on crime rates, public safety, and community trust in law enforcement. Community policing is a proactive approach that emphasizes collaboration between police officers and residents to prevent crime and address social disorder. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of community policing in Novaliches Proper by examining key factors that influence its success or failure. Specifically, it focuses on proactive policing, communication, and the development of relationships and trust within the community. The research analyzes how these elements contribute to crime prevention, community safety, and public perception of law enforcement. Ultimately, The study evaluated community policing strategies concerning public safety measures. The participants in this study comprised ten barangay officials, fifteen residents, and twenty-five police officers. The researchers used a random sampling technique to ensure unbiased selection and accurately represent different perspectives. A quantitative descriptive research design was employed to systematically collect and analyze data on the effectiveness of community policing efforts. To gather data, the researchers obtained permission from the research adviser and personally administered the survey questionnaires. The findings indicated that respondents strongly emphasized the importance of several key factors in community policing. Proactive policing received a weighted mean score of 3.48, underscoring its significance in preventing crime before it occurs. The development of relationships and trust between law enforcement and community members received a weighted mean of 3.36, suggesting that strong connections enhance the effectiveness of policing. Additionally, communication was rated with a weighted mean of 3.28, highlighting the necessity for transparent and open dialogue between the police and the public to maintain trust and cooperation. The findings of the study suggest that an effective community policing model should prioritize proactive policing, build public trust, and improve communication between the police and the community. Additionally, the study may offer recommendations for enhancing community policing, which could include training programs, policy modifications, and community engagement strategies. These findings can serve as a foundation for law enforcement agencies and policymakers to refine current strategies or develop new initiatives to improve public safety and foster better cooperation between the police and the community.
