Abstract

The Drug Prevention Program of Police Station 16, spearheaded by its Station Drug Enforcement Unit, is a proactive initiative aimed at preventing substance abuse among minors. This study explored the program’s effectiveness by focusing on its holistic strategy, which integrates educational campaigns, community involvement, and coordinated law enforcement efforts. The program is designed to empower minors with the awareness, values, and life skills necessary to make responsible choices, resist peer pressure, and avoid drug-related risks. By tackling the underlying causes of substance abuse, the initiative not only advocates for a drug-free youth but also strengthens community partnerships and promotes a safer, healthier environment for the next generation. The study adopted a combination of descriptive and qualitative research methods to assess the effectiveness of the Drug Prevention Program. A total of 50 participants were selected using purposive sampling to ensure relevance, followed by random sampling to enhance diversity and representation. Respondents include students, parents, teachers, and local law enforcement officers, offering a comprehensive and multi-perspective evaluation of the program’s impact. Core components of the initiative include life skills training, professional counseling, school-based drug education, and a mentorship program between teachers and police officers. These elements collectively aim to equip minors with the knowledge, emotional resilience, and decision-making skills necessary to prevent drug involvement and promote a healthy, responsible lifestyle. The program adopts a comprehensive and proactive strategy that integrates life skills training, structured mentorship, and professional counseling to educate minors on the dangers of drug use. Community participation is actively encouraged through initiatives such as neighborhood watch groups, community assemblies, and incentive-based reporting systems, fostering a sense of collective responsibility. Strategic collaboration with law enforcement enhances the program’s credibility, reinforces deterrence, and strengthens the overall effectiveness of preventive measures. Furthermore, the inclusion of support services—ranging from individual counseling to skill-building workshops—empowers youth to confidently resist peer pressure and make informed, healthy choices. To ensure sustainability and relevance, the program undergoes continuous monitoring and evaluation, allowing for data-driven improvements and long-term impact. While the program demonstrates significant strengths, it continues to face persistent challenges, including limited resources and uneven levels of community participation. To effectively address these issues, the study recommends mobilizing additional funding sources, expanding outreach campaigns to reach underserved populations, and implementing incentive-driven initiatives to encourage broader community involvement. Through sustained collaboration, strategic innovation, and stakeholder commitment, the program aspires to enhance its effectiveness and cultivate a safe, supportive environment where minors are empowered to lead drug-free lives. By proactively confronting these obstacles, the initiative reinforces the vital importance of unified community action in building a healthier, more resilient future for today’s youth.
