Abstract

School facilities and equipment are essential components of the educational process, profoundly affecting the learning environment of students. This study aimed to investigate the perceptions of Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) students regarding their use of school facilities and equipment, focusing on three critical aspects: availability, adequacy, and management and maintenance. Additionally, The research evaluated the learning performance of BPED students in terms of subject mastery, practical skills demonstration, and overall engagement. The study also seeks to identify the challenges faced by BPED students related to existing facilities and equipment and to propose recommendations for their improved utilization. This study used a descriptive research design and involved ninety-five (95) Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected primarily through survey questionnaires, which provided comprehensive insights into the students’ experiences with school facilities and equipment and their perceived influence on learning outcomes. The findings revealed that BPED students generally “agree” (weighted mean of 2.73) that the school facilities and equipment are available, adequate, and properly maintained. Likewise, they “agree” (weighted mean of 2.86) regarding their learning performance in terms of subject mastery, practical demonstrations, and overall engagement. However, 81% of the respondents reported experiencing discomfort due to issues such as broken chairs, malfunctioning fans, and faulty lighting. To address these concerns, the proposed guidelines emphasize improving the maintenance and availability of resources to enhance the learning environment for BPED students. This study highlights the critical role that well-maintained and effectively managed facilities play in fostering a conducive learning environment, particularly for subjects that emphasize practical demonstrations. The challenges reported by students underscore the urgent need to improve facility management and equipment adequacy. Implementing the proposed guidelines and standard procedures will enable schools to optimize resource utilization, thereby enhancing student learning and engagement. The findings provide valuable insights for improving the educational experience of BPED students and offer broader implications for the advancement of hands-on learning methodologies in educational settings.
