Abstract

This research examined the impact of reward systems on the scholastic achievements of senior high school students. Motivation plays a crucial role in helping students succeed in today’s educational environment, and reward systems serve as an important tool to encourage diligent study habits. This study aimed to explore how different types of rewards—including tangible incentives, verbal praise, and special privileges—affect students’ motivation, engagement, and academic performance. The researchers used a quantitative research design and collected data through survey questionnaires. The respondents included eleven (11) students each from the AUTO-SMAW, ABM, HUMSS, HE, GAS, STEM, and SPORTS strands at Bestlink College of the Philippines, Bulacan Campus, all enrolled for the Academic Year 2024-2025. The results of the study showed that most students agree that reward systems positively impact their academic performance. Rewards help increase their motivation and encourage them to achieve more academically. The findings also indicate that when rewards are used effectively and in balance, they contribute to the development of good study habits and sustained engagement in academic tasks. The findings of the study suggest that teachers can effectively use reward systems to boost student motivation and academic performance. To maximize their impact, rewards should be purposeful, consistent, and aligned with learning objectives. Even small incentives, such as recognition or praise, can make students feel valued and more motivated. However, teachers should avoid overusing rewards to prevent students from becoming reliant on external incentives. When applied thoughtfully, reward systems help create a supportive learning environment that fosters both academic success and personal growth.
