Abstract

The researchers focused on selected Grade 11 Humanities and Social Science students at Bestlink College of the Philippines to investigate the effectiveness of using audio-visual learning in remedial teaching. With the growing integration of technology in education, the study specifically examined how audio-visual methods can enhance listening and viewing comprehension skills. Using probability techniques, specifically purposive sampling, the researchers aimed to address the study’s questions. A quantitative research design was employed, covering the respondents of the study, sampling method, research instruments, construction and validation of the instrument, administration and retrieval procedures, and statistical data treatment. A pre-test and post-test were developed to measure respondents’ capabilities before and after the use of the instructional material, which was the Audio-Visual Learning Application. The findings present the data collected through the research instruments, showing a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores after using audio-visual learning. The results indicated variations in mean and standard deviation, demonstrating notable improvements in respondents’ performance. This suggests that audio-visual learning had a substantial positive effect on their listening and viewing comprehension skills. The findings suggest that the use of audio-visual learning in remedial teaching significantly improved respondents’ listening and viewing comprehension. Watching the instructional video enhanced their understanding of subject–verb agreement.
