Abstract

Beverages contribute significantly to student hydration and nutrition. This study examined the acceptability of Blood Whip Dragon Fruit Soda with Sugar Syrup among Senior High School Home Economics students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Dragon fruit offers antioxidant and vitamin benefits, while sugar syrup enhances sweetness. The study evaluated sensory acceptability based on taste, aroma, appearance, and overall appeal. A descriptive quantitative design was employed to assess beverage acceptability. Fifty Senior High School Home Economics students at Bestlink College complete a structured questionnaire rating taste, aroma, appearance, and overall satisfaction on a four‑point scale. Responses are analyzed using frequency distributions and mean scores to determine levels of acceptability and student preferences. Most respondents rated the drink as highly acceptable. The natural sweetness, smooth mouthfeel, and vibrant red‑pink hue received top scores. Taste evaluations described the soda as refreshing, with a well‑balanced blend of dragon fruit flavor and sweetness. Aroma ratings reflected a pleasant, fruity scent, and overall satisfaction scores indicated strong preference. Students also noted the perceived health benefits of dragon fruit, favoring it over artificial alternatives. The findings indicated that Blood Whip Dragon Fruit Soda with Sugar Syrup is a viable refresher for students, combining appealing flavor, attractive appearance, and potential health advantages. As a result, the beverage offers a natural alternative to commercial soft drinks. Suggestions for refinement included adjusting the sugar syrup level to accommodate varied sweetness preferences. Further product development may explore reduced‑sugar formulations and additional fruit inclusions to broaden appeal.
