Abstract
In the modern digital age, businesses require reliable and efficient systems to monitor employee attendance. Traditional methods, such as paper logs and manual entry, are not only time-consuming but also prone to errors and inaccuracies. Despite technological advancements, many organizations still rely on these outdated practices, resulting in inefficiencies in workforce management. This project focuses on developing a digital employee attendance monitoring system using QR code technology to simplify the attendance process, reduce manual work, and ensure accurate and timely record-keeping. This study used the Waterfall development methodology, which follows a linear and structured approach encompassing the phases of planning, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance. The system was developed using Java to build the graphical user interface (GUI), while XAMPP served as the local server environment for managing the MySQL database. To streamline the attendance process, a QR code scanner was integrated, allowing employees to scan their personalized QR codes instead of manually logging their attendance. This innovation significantly reduces time consumption and minimizes the risk of human error in attendance recording. This study developed a QR code-based employee attendance monitoring system to address the limitations and inefficiencies of traditional manual attendance tracking. Each employee is assigned a unique QR code, which is scanned to log attendance seamlessly and accurately. By automating the process, the system significantly reduces the risk of human error and enhances the reliability of attendance records. The accurate data generated empowers administrators with better workforce management and decision-making capabilities. Overall, the system demonstrates a dependable and efficient solution for modern employee attendance monitoring. The implementation of a QR code-based employee attendance monitoring system proved to be an effective solution for recording employee attendance. The system was able to provide an accurate scanning of QR codes with the help of a QR code scanner device, reducing the chances of human errors. With the success of the system testing proving to provide accurate attendance tracking, it opens opportunities for integrating features such as automated payroll computation based on working hours and other related features related to attendance tracking. This will significantly improve the overall process of the employee attendance monitoring system.
