Abstract

This study examined how effective ecotourism activities are in conserving Arroceros Forest Park, an important urban green space in Manila. The research focused on ecotourism activities such as guided nature tours, environmental education programs, visitor behavior, and eco-friendly infrastructure, and how these activities help protect biodiversity, forest quality, reduce pollution, and minimize wildlife disturbance. The study also aimed to provide a basis for policy planning to improve conservation efforts in the park. A descriptive quantitative correlational research design was used. Data were gathered from 100 tourists through a validated questionnaire. Statistical tools such as weighted mean, ranking, and Pearson correlation coefficient were applied to analyze the data and determine the relationship between ecotourism activities and conservation. Results showed that ecotourism activities were perceived as strongly effective, especially environmental education programs and eco-friendly infrastructure. The findings also revealed a strong positive relationship between the effectiveness of ecotourism activities and the conservation of the park. However, challenges such as construction threats, limited government support, and unclear conservation policies were identified. The study concluded that ecotourism plays an important role in conserving Arroceros Forest Park when properly managed. It recommends strengthening environmental education, improving visitor management, enforcing conservation policies, and encouraging community and government involvement to ensure the park’s long-term sustainability.
