Abstract

The study focused on Manadlam Falls in Antipolo, to assess its potential as a nature-based tourism destination. The researchers wanted to understand how satisfied tourists were with their experience at the falls and identify areas that could be improved. Examining a range of factors including the availability and quality of facilities, the presence of amenities, ease of access, and the overall enjoyment of the visit. A descriptive research design was employed, involving 30 respondents selected through convenience sampling. Data were gathered through survey questionnaires and onsite observations to determine the relationships between tourist satisfaction and several variables, including accessibility, amenities, cleanliness, nature-based tourism, and scenic beauty. The results showed that Manadlam Falls has a high potential as a nature-based tourism destination. The respondents expressed positive perceptions of the natural environment and overall tourist experience, particularly in terms of scenery and recreational value. Most visitors were aged 19 years and below which they visited for beauty of the surroundings, accessibility, cleanliness and freshness of the water were rated positive. However, the findings also revealed several factors that contributed to tourist dissatisfaction. These included inadequate facilities and amenities, limited accessibility, and insufficient implementation of sustainable tourism practices. These shortcomings resulted in a noticeable gap between tourists’ expectations and their actual experiences. Based on the results, the study concludes that although Manadlam Falls has strong potential for nature-based tourism development, improvements are necessary to enhance tourist satisfaction and ensure sustainability. The study recommends improving facilities and amenities, enhancing accessibility and infrastructure, promoting sustainable tourism activities, and developing long-term sustainable tourism plans. Local stakeholders and tourism planners are encouraged to collaborate in implementing these recommendations to ensure responsible destination management. Addressing these concerns may improve tourist satisfaction, support environmental conservation, strengthen community involvement, encourage repeat visitation, and help position Manadlam Falls as a competitive and sustainable nature-based tourism destination in Antipolo and nearby communities.
