Abstract

Environmental sustainability has become increasingly important in the hospitality industry because of its substantial consumption of resources. This study assessed University Hotel’s environmental initiatives and their relationship with guest experience. As travelers become more environmentally conscious, hotels face increasing pressure to adopt resource-efficient operations. The study examined how energy, water, and waste management related to guests’ perceptions of value and comfort during their stay. The study used a descriptive-quantitative design and gathered data through structured questionnaires from 50 guests at University Hotel. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The study measured respondent profiles and assessments of sustainability practices across three key domains. Weighted mean and correlation analysis were used to determine the relationship between environmental practices and overall guest experience. The findings showed that University Hotel’s sustainability practices were highly evident, with waste management receiving the highest assessment. Guests reported high satisfaction with tangible environmental initiatives, including energy-efficient lighting and waste segregation, but identified a need for clearer communication about water conservation. The analysis indicated a strong positive correlation between sustainability initiatives and guest loyalty, suggesting that eco-friendly operations were associated with greater perceived value during guests’ stays. The findings indicate that sustainability is an important component of guest satisfaction rather than merely an optional corporate initiative. University Hotel may strengthen its competitiveness by integrating environmental practices into routine operations. Although the technical implementation of these practices was rated positively, clearer signage and interactive programs may improve guest engagement and enhance the perceived value of the stay.
