Abstract

Hospitality education aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to succeed in the industry. On-the-job training (OJT) is an important component of this preparation because it provides students with practical experience in real workplace settings. This study assessed the effectiveness of OJT in developing the skills of Hospitality Management students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The study used a quantitative research design to collect and analyze numerical data on the effectiveness of the OJT program in developing the skills of recent Hospitality Management graduates of Bestlink College of the Philippines. Data were gathered through a structured questionnaire administered using Google Forms and were analyzed statistically. The findings indicated that hospitality OJT was highly effective in developing students’ skills. Respondents reported substantial improvement in communication, customer service, teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism after the training. Most also agreed that OJT provided practical experience that enabled them to apply knowledge and theories learned in school. The findings suggest that OJT played an important role in developing the skills of Hospitality Management students. Reported improvements in communication, customer service, and professionalism indicated greater readiness for the demands of the hospitality industry. The results support the continued inclusion of practical training in hospitality education. Improved supervision and better organization of workplace training were recommended to strengthen students’ learning experiences.
