Abstract
This study examined the room style preferences of Generation Z and their influence on staycation booking decisions in Quezon City. As Generation Z becomes a growing market segment in the hospitality industry, understanding their design preferences is essential for accommodation providers. Room aesthetics, functionality, and overall ambiance play a vital role in shaping booking intentions and guest satisfaction. The study aimed to identify the most preferred room styles of Generation Z and determine how these preferences affect their decision to book staycations. The study used a quantitative research design. Data were collected from fifty (50) Generation Z respondents who have experienced or shown interest in staycations in Quezon City. A survey questionnaire served as the primary research instrument, incorporating checklist and rating scale elements. A five-point Likert scale was used to measure respondents’ level of agreement with statements related to room style preferences and booking intentions. Collected data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, and measures of relationship with determine the influence of room style on booking decisions. The findings revealed that most respondents were aged 18–19 years (36%), indicating that younger Generation Z individuals are the most active staycation participants. Female respondents comprised the majority (54%), and most were working students (88%), suggesting that affordability and flexible schedules influence staycation participation. The majority reported limited income, emphasizing price sensitivity as a key factor in booking decisions. Staycations were identified as recurring leisure activities, commonly availed for short breaks and celebrations. The study reported a significant relationship between room-style preferences and Generation Z respondents’ staycation booking decisions in Quezon City. Minimalist, modern, and visually appealing designs, together with smart-technology features, received favorable assessments and were associated with booking intention. Social media also played an important role in shaping perceptions and validating choices.
