Abstract
Housekeeping sanitation practices at Astoria Plaza represent a comprehensive system grounded in the 5S framework (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) that maintains clean, safe, and efficient hotel environments. These practices cover bed/linen sanitation, furniture/fixture cleaning, public area disinfection, and organized workflows, directly enhancing employee performance through reduced illness, minimized clutter, and streamlined operations. While challenges like inconsistent training and resource limitations occasionally arise, the overwhelmingly positive results demonstrate sanitation's critical role in boosting productivity, morale, and guest satisfaction at Astoria Plaza Hotel. The researchers employed a quantitative descriptive-correlational design to assess sanitation's impact on 30 housekeeping employees at Astoria Plaza. Data collection involved validated survey questionnaires using a four-point Likert scale, targeting balanced demographics across age, gender, work experience, and employment length. Analysis through frequency distribution, weighted means, and ranking revealed uniformly high sanitation standards across all indicators, confirming significant positive correlations between structured practices and performance metrics like efficiency and attendance. Research confirms that rigorous sanitation protocols reduce absenteeism, accelerate room turnovers, and foster staff confidence. The 5S methodology eliminates waste, organizes tools via service carts, and sustains hygiene through training, aligning with post-pandemic expectations. These practices create measurable improvements while suggesting targeted opportunities for refinement in specific operational areas. Housekeeping sanitation proves essential for employee well-being and operational success at Astoria Plaza, creating safer workspaces that minimize physical strain and enhance focus. Superior practices yield gains in speed, accuracy, and guest perceptions of cleanliness, reinforced by literature on 5S implementation in hospitality. Recommendations include intensified training, SOP refinements, UV technology integration, and regular audits to sustain competitive advantage, ensuring long-term performance excellence in luxury hotel operations.
