Abstract

The development of language skills is a critical component of a student’s academic success and overall cognitive development. The Door Tour is a pedagogical tool that utilizes visual stimuli to support the learning process, providing students with a tangible and interactive means of understanding and applying language concepts. The researchers used a true experimental design involving one cluster comprising two (2) sections and a total of 66 Grade 7 students from San Bartolome High School. Each of the control and experimental groups included 33 respondents. Cluster sampling was used to select the participants, and random assignment determined which group received the Door Tour intervention. At pretest, the control group had a mean score of 10.85 (SD = 4.25), while the experimental group had a mean of 11.15 (SD = 3.33), indicating comparable baseline performance. At posttest, the experimental group achieved a higher mean score of 18.606 (SD = 2.371) than the control group, which obtained a mean of 12.758 (SD = 4.352). The reported significant between-group difference supports the effectiveness of the Door Tour visual manipulative aids. The experimental group also completed a four-point Likert-scale evaluation and provided predominantly positive feedback, although minor implementation challenges were reported. The findings indicate that the Door Tour visual manipulative aids improved students’ language performance relative to the control condition. The material may therefore serve as an engaging supplementary pedagogical tool.
