Abstract

The study emphasized that academic success requires effective time management in addition to conventional study habits, particularly among Grade 12 HUMSS students. Procrastination, excessive social-media use, and difficulty balancing academic and personal responsibilities may contribute to stress, missed deadlines, and burnout. Strategies such as organizing schedules, setting deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and minimizing distractions may help strengthen study habits and productivity. The study used a descriptive-quantitative research design to describe the time-management strategies and study habits of 112 Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students without manipulating any variables. Data were collected using a survey questionnaire. Respondents strongly agreed that time-management strategies supported their study habits in terms of skill development, task prioritization, and learning motivation. They also agreed that time management was related to self-regulation, planning, and metacognition. The study environment was identified as the most frequently encountered difficulty. The proposed recommendation was for students to maintain a clean, quiet, organized, and comfortable study area to support effective study habits. The findings indicate that time-management strategies may support study habits through skill development, task prioritization, learning motivation, self-regulation, planning, and metacognition. The study environment was identified as the factor that most affected students’ ability to study effectively. The study recommends planning study sessions to improve focus, reduce procrastination, and develop consistent study habits.
