Abstract
Innovative rescue devices may support emergency-response operations, but their design and usability require systematic evaluation. This study assessed the acceptability of a multifunctional rescue device among information-technology experts, urban search and rescue (USAR) personnel, and electronics engineers. The device was evaluated in terms of materials, durability, efficiency, versatility, and presentation, and the study examined whether assessments differed among the three respondent groups. The study used a descriptive research design. Fifteen (15) respondents participated: five information-technology experts, five USAR personnel, and five electronics engineers. Data were collected through a structured evaluation questionnaire. Weighted means were used to describe acceptability, and the Kruskal–Wallis H test was used to examine differences among the three groups at a 0.05 level of significance. The device was rated “Highly Acceptable” across the evaluation criteria. Information-technology experts reportedly provided the highest mean ratings, followed by USAR personnel and electronics engineers. All reported p-values exceeded the 0.05 significance level, and the overall p-value was 0.129; therefore, the study reported no statistically significant difference among the three groups’ assessments. The results indicate that the small purposively selected respondent groups gave favorable and statistically similar acceptability ratings. They do not establish that the device meets formal professional standards or performs effectively in real rescue operations. Field testing under realistic emergency conditions, reliability testing, and evaluation with a larger and more representative group are needed before practical deployment claims can be made.
