Abstract

This study assessed the perceived effectiveness of the Quezon City Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Payatas Area B in terms of treatment approach, support system, and social integration. It also examined how these components were perceived to support the recovery of former drug dependents and identified problems encountered during rehabilitation. The findings were intended to inform improvements in rehabilitation programs and community-based interventions. This study employed a quantitative descriptive research design to assess the effectiveness of the Quezon City Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Payatas Area B. The descriptive method was appropriate as it allowed the researchers to gather data on the current condition and performance of the rehabilitation center without manipulating variables. A self-made questionnaire was utilized as the primary data-gathering instrument. The questionnaire was validated by experts to ensure clarity, relevance, and reliability. It was divided into four parts: treatment approach, support system, social integration, and problems encountered. A four-point Likert scale was used to measure respondents’ perceptions. Findings showed that the rehabilitation center was rated Very Effective in treatment approach and social integration, and Effective in support system. ANOVA results showed no significant difference among the assessments of facilitators, former patients, and community members, indicating consistent perceptions of the rehabilitation center’s effectiveness. The findings were interpreted through Social Learning Theory, which emphasizes structured programs and reinforcement in behavior change. Limited family involvement was identified as a concern consistent with literature describing weak support systems as a relapse risk factor. The study recommends strengthening family participation and aftercare services to support long-term recovery.
