Abstract

The adoption of digital technologies has transformed recruitment and selection practices in educational institutions. Bestlink College of the Philippines uses QR codes, social media job postings, and video interviewing to enhance efficiency and accessibility in teacher hiring. This study examined newly hired teachers’ perceptions of these digital recruitment tools and the challenges encountered in their use. This study used a quantitative descriptive research design involving thirty (30) newly hired teachers who experienced digital recruitment and selection processes. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using weighted mean, percentage distribution, and Pearson correlation. The results showed differences in the perceived effectiveness of digital recruitment tools. QR codes obtained the highest weighted mean (3.42), followed by social media job postings (3.27) and video interviewing (2.92). The most common challenge was data privacy and security concerns (80%), followed by technical issues (47%) and concerns on fairness and objectivity (37%). A significant relationship was found between teachers’ level of awareness and experience and their perceptions of digital recruitment tools, indicating that greater familiarity was associated with more positive evaluations. Digital recruitment tools were generally perceived as effective, particularly QR codes due to their convenience and ease of use. The significant relationship between awareness, experience, and perception underscores the role of familiarity in accepting digital hiring practices. However, concerns on data security, technical issues, and fairness highlight the need for improved safeguards and clearer recruitment procedures to enhance trust in digital recruitment systems.
