Abstract
Weather significantly affects customer attendance and sales at Relaxante Spa’s Regalado, Talipapa, and Commonwealth branches in Quezon City. In good weather, weekly revenues range from PHP 30,000 to PHP 50,000. During the rainy and typhoon seasons, earnings drop to PHP 15,000–PHP 25,000 due to flooding, transport issues, and safety concerns, leading to fewer walk-ins and more cancellations. While cooler weather may increase interest in relaxation services, severe conditions restrict mobility, resulting in fluctuating revenue, unstable demand, and underutilized staff since the spa relies heavily on in-person visits. This study used a descriptive-correlational design to examine how inclement weather affects sales performance at Relaxante Spa’s three branches. The descriptive aspect identified changes in clients’ service preferences, visit frequency, and wellness needs, while the correlational aspect analyzed the relationship between weather conditions and sales factors such as promotions, brand loyalty, and digital advertising. A purposive sample of 60 regular clients (20 per branch) who experienced both favorable and adverse weather conditions participated. Data were gathered through a validated and pilot-tested Likert-scale survey via Google Forms, and analyzed using weighted mean and Pearson’s r. Findings revealed that inclement weather strongly influences client behavior and wellness needs. Clients showed a higher preference for stress-relieving services such as massage and aromatherapy during cold or rainy days (WM = 3.46). Visit frequency was moderately affected (WM = 3.17), mainly due to travel challenges. Both physical (WM = 3.34) and mental wellness needs (WM = 3.37) increased as clients viewed spa treatments as ways to alleviate discomfort, fatigue, and stress. Sales performance benefited significantly from push strategies like in-store promotions (WM = 3.60) and digital advertising (WM = 3.50), as well as pull strategies including brand loyalty (WM = 3.65) and word of mouth (WM = 3.60). Pearson correlation indicated a strong, positive, and statistically significant relationship between inclement weather and sales performance (r = 0.74, p = 0.0001). The study concludes that inclement weather is a critical factor influencing client behavior and revenue at Relaxante Spa. To maintain operations, it recommends adaptive strategies such as weather-based promotions, flexible booking policies, enhanced digital engagement, and home-service offerings.
