Abstract

Inbound logistics plays a vital role in supply chains by managing the flow of materials from suppliers to storage facilities. To remain competitive, businesses must optimize these processes. This study assessed inbound logistics and operational efficiency among selected furniture companies in District V, Quezon City. It examined delays, office-supply shortages, and inadequate staffing as factors associated with operational performance and sought to provide a data-based understanding of operational losses. The researchers used a quantitative research design and random sampling to select 30 respondents. Data were collected through a survey questionnaire. Respondents’ demographic profiles and assessments of inbound logistics indicators were analyzed using frequency and weighted mean, while Pearson’s r was used to assess the relationship between inbound logistics and operational efficiency. Respondents strongly agreed that their businesses operated effectively, with composite weighted means of 3.37 for operational efficiency and higher throughput, 3.31 for lower cost, and 3.42 for customer satisfaction. Delivery delays, supply shortages, and limited staffing were identified but were considered manageable. Pearson’s r yielded a p-value of 0.0228 (<0.05), indicating a significant relationship between inbound logistics and operational efficiency. The findings highlight the need for continuous assessment and improvement of inbound logistics practices to prevent operational disruptions and sustain productivity. The developed guide provides a practical framework that managers and business owners may use to support improvements in logistics and operations management. Future studies should broaden the scope by including more respondents and additional business sectors.
