Financial Analysis

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between the features of GCash and the financial management practices of college students. Specifically, it assessed respondents’ demographic profiles, their evaluation of GCash features (payment, money management, investment, credit, and insurance), and their level of financial management in terms of budgeting and planning, spending discipline, savings behavior, and financial decision-making. A quantitative research design was employed using a structured survey questionnaire administered to selected college students. Descriptive statistics, weighted mean, and Pearson product–moment correlation were used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that respondents generally agreed that GCash features are useful and supportive of financial activities. Similarly, students rated their financial management practices positively across all measured dimensions. However, correlation analysis showed a weak negative relationship between the assessment of GCash features and financial management. This indicates that favorable perceptions of digital wallet features do not necessarily translate into improved financial management behaviors. The study concludes that while GCash provides convenient and accessible financial tools, effective financial management among students depends largely on personal financial literacy, discipline, and responsible decision-making. The findings serve as a basis for proposing a guide that encourages the transition from cash-out transactions to direct pay usage to support financial monitoring and accountability among college students.
