Abstract

This study assessed the effects of an awareness campaign on the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children law among residents of Barangay San Agustin. The study used a quantitative descriptive design and purposive sampling. The 50 participants were 5 VAWC desk officers, 5 Women’s Desk police officers, and 40 local women residents who met the study criteria. Data were collected using a structured survey questionnaire. Most respondents were aged 18–25 years, unmarried, and recent high-school graduates. Respondents demonstrated a high level of awareness of the VAWC law. Knowledge (WM = 3.94), attitude (WM = 3.90), behavioral change (WM = 3.90), and community views (WM = 3.85) were all interpreted as Strongly Agree, producing an overall weighted mean of 3.90. Statistical testing showed no significant difference in respondents’ evaluations of campaign effectiveness (p = 0.09944 > 0.05). However, fear of reporting, mistrust of authorities, cultural norms, financial dependence, and limited legal knowledge remained barriers to the full use of the VAWC law. The findings indicate that the awareness campaign supported knowledge of the VAWC law and positive attitudes toward its implementation in Barangay San Agustin. Persistent barriers—including fear of reporting, mistrust of authorities, cultural norms, financial dependence, and limited legal knowledge—should be addressed when strengthening and sustaining future campaign activities.
