Abstract
The Bola Kontra Droga campaign is a sports-based anti-drug initiative grounded in Republic Act No. 9165 and DILG directives, using activities like basketball leagues and awareness seminars to promote healthy lifestyles and values such as discipline among youth. While recognized as a legitimate community strategy that can empower young people and foster unity, it faces challenges including insufficient funding, inconsistent scheduling, low participation from some groups, and sustainability issues tied to local leadership changes, and as few studies focus on sports-oriented anti-drug interventions, this evaluation aims to provide empirical data on the campaign’s impact on youth attitudes and decision-making to inform improvements and policy recommendations. This research uses a quantitative descriptive design to assess the Bola Kontra Droga campaign in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City. As defined by Shona Mc Combes (2023), this approach describes phenomena without manipulating variables, addressing what, where, when, and how questions. Survey questionnaires will collect input from students, community members, and youth on drug prevention education, sports involvement, and program support, with results compiled into a statistical report to show reach and demographic variations. The Bola Kontra Droga campaign in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City was assessed with 80 respondents mostly aged 18–25, single, and nearly split by sex; it received strong "Strongly Agree" ratings for drug prevention education (3.60), youth sports engagement (3.55), and program support (3.48) with significant assessment differences across groups, faced top challenges of unappealing materials (96%), lack of follow-up (89%), and insufficient advertising (86%), and the ECAPS Program was proposed to address gaps through interventions focused on communication, inclusivity, resources, and sustainability. This study assessed the Bola Kontra Droga campaign in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City, with 80 respondents mostly aged 18–25, single, and nearly split by sex. The campaign scored strongly in drug prevention education (3.60), youth sports engagement (3.55), and program support (3.48), though assessments varied across groups. Top challenges included unappealing materials (96%), lack of follow-up (89%), and insufficient advertising (86%), leading to the proposed ECAPS Program and recommendations to gather feedback, build partnerships, and expand research.
