Abstract

Barangay Commonwealth in Quezon City continues to experience persistent traffic congestion. This study assessed the effectiveness of road clearing operations implemented by the barangay and local government in improving traffic flow, road safety, and public order. It determined whether a significant difference existed in the perceptions of respondents regarding the effectiveness of these operations and proposed strategies for improvement based on the findings. The study utilized a quantitative approach employing a descriptive research design. Purposive sampling was used to select a total of 50 respondents, consisting of 15 Market Development and Administration Department, 15 barangay officials, and 20 residents of Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City. Data were gathered through a structured survey questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and One-Way Analysis of Variance. Findings revealed that most respondents were young adults aged 18–25 years, had elementary graduate or college-level educational attainment, and had 4–6 years of residency or service. In terms of effectiveness, public awareness initiatives such as community meetings and orientations were rated effective. The One-Way ANOVA results showed a significant difference in the assessments among MDAD personnel, barangay officials, and residents, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. It recommends further research to evaluate the relationship between manpower, coordination strategies, and programs.
