Abstract

Road safety involves ensuring that pedestrians, drivers, and passengers follow traffic laws, supported by proper road structures, signage, and responsible behavior to prevent accidents. This study evaluated the impact of traffic policing on road safety in Barangay Paso De Blas, Valenzuela City. It examined respondents’ profiles in terms of age, educational attainment, and years in service or driving experience; assessed perceptions of traffic policing in reducing traffic accidents, enforcing traffic laws, and promoting awareness and discipline; determined whether significant differences existed among groups; identified problems encountered; and proposed strategies to address these issues. The study employed a quantitative descriptive research design using a survey questionnaire. Sixty (60) respondents participated, consisting of 20 drivers, 20 traffic enforcers, and 20 commuters selected through purposive sampling. After securing permission from barangay officials, the researchers personally distributed and collected the questionnaires. Findings revealed that most respondents were aged 34–41, followed by 26–33, indicating active engagement in road use. The majority were college graduates or at college level, suggesting adequate knowledge of traffic regulations. Most had resided in the area for 4–6 years, implying familiarity with local traffic conditions. The main problems identified were lack of participation and internal disagreements. Recommendations include strengthening monitoring systems, enhancing enforcement and rapid response, promoting community cooperation, and conducting further research.
