Abstract

The impact of the Revitalized Police sa Barangay (R-PSB) Program of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Barangay Payatas A, Quezon City. The R-PSB program aims to strengthen community-based policing by bringing police services closer to the grassroots, enhancing public safety, and fostering trust between the police and the community. Specifically, the study sought to determine the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, and educational attainment; assess the economic impact of the R-PSB program in terms of employment and livelihood; and identify the challenges encountered by the respondents in the implementation of the program. A descriptive research design was utilized in the study. Data were gathered from fifty (50) respondents comprising barangay residents, barangay officials, and police personnel assigned under the R-PSB program. A structured survey questionnaire was used as the primary data-gathering instrument. The collected data were analyzed using statistical tools such as frequency distribution, percentage, weighted mean, and ranking to interpret the responses of the participants. The findings revealed that the majority of the respondents belonged to the productive age group and were predominantly male, with most having attained at least a college-level education. This indicates that the respondents possessed adequate knowledge and experience to assess the implementation and impact of the R-PSB program. Results further showed that the R-PSB program had a generally high economic impact on Barangay Payatas A, particularly in terms of supporting employment-generating initiatives and encouraging community participation in livelihood programs. The presence of R-PSB officers was perceived to contribute to a safer environment, which helped create favorable conditions for business activities and income-generating efforts within the barangay. However, some indicators related to long-term economic stability and skills-based empowerment were rated as having only moderate impact. The study recommends the implementation of enhanced, community-driven strategies aligned with the PNP PATROL Plan 2030 to strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of the Revitalized Police sa Barangay Program.
