Abstract

This study, titled “Effective Strategies for Preventing Youth Riots in Barangay Holy Spirit,” examined the causes, prevention strategies, and challenges related to violent disturbances caused by youth, often driven by social, economic, or political frustrations. The research focused on police officers, barangay officials and volunteers, and residents as respondents. It assessed respondents’ profiles, evaluated the effectiveness of prevention strategies such as community-based programs, parental and family involvement, and collaboration among stakeholders, identified significant differences in assessments across profiles, and explored challenges and potential solutions. Using purposive and stratified sampling, the researchers applied a mixed-method approach to collect quantitative and qualitative data. The questionnaire was validated for relevance, clarity, grammar, and statistical reliability. Permission was obtained from the Barangay Chairman and Quezon City Police District Station 14, and respondents were briefed before completing the survey. Data were collected, tallied, and analyzed for interpretation. Findings revealed that most respondents were aged 25–34, had college-level or graduate education, and had seven years or more of residency or service. Prevention strategies, including community programs, family engagement, and stakeholder collaboration, were rated highly effective, although assessments varied significantly according to respondent profile. Key challenges included poverty, unemployment, and social inequality. The study concluded that strengthening youth programs, enhancing family involvement, promoting skills training and employment, and sustaining stakeholder partnerships are essential to fostering peace, social cohesion, and long-term community stability. Recommendations included evidence-based policies, proactive youth engagement, conflict-resolution initiatives, and ongoing research to develop adaptive strategies that address evolving social dynamics and promote community safety.
