Abstract
The 911 Emergency Hotline is an important tool for reporting crimes and emergencies and for obtaining immediate assistance from authorities. It facilitates better community-law enforcement communication and reaction times. Nonetheless, several communities continue to struggle with issues like low awareness and hotline abuse. Thus, this study investigates how well the 911 Emergency Hotline responds to crimes and criminal activity in Barangay Damayan. This study evaluated the efficiency of the 911 Emergency Hotline in handling crimes and emergencies in Barangay Damayan using a descriptive research design. A systematic survey questionnaire about their awareness, experiences, and opinions of the 911 hotline services was given to the study's respondents, who were chosen from the barangay. Questionnaires were distributed to collect data, and replies were interpreted using statistical methods like frequency, percentage, and weighted mean. The information gathered was used to assess the 911 Emergency Hotline's efficacy in responding to crimes and crises in the community in terms of response time, accessibility, and dependability. The results of the study revealed that the 911 Emergency Hotline is generally perceived as effective in responding to crimes and emergencies in Barangay Damayan. The majority of respondents said that the hotline is reachable and useful for getting in touch with authorities in an emergency. The results, however, also revealed that some locals are not well-informed about how to utilize the hotline, and several expressed worries about response times and the existence of fraudulent calls. Despite these difficulties, most respondents agreed that the 911 hotline is crucial for enhancing public safety and guaranteeing quicker communication with emergency personnel. The findings of the study indicate that the 911 Emergency Hotline plays a significant role in improving the response to crimes and emergencies in Barangay Damayan. According to the widespread sense of effectiveness, the hotline assists locals in promptly contacting authorities in emergency situations. The study does, however, also emphasize the necessity of raising public knowledge of the hotline's proper usage and the significance of lowering hoax calls, which may have an impact on response effectiveness. Enhancing response coordination and bolstering community education could increase the 911 Emergency Hotline's efficacy in guaranteeing public safety.
