Abstract

This study explores an Evaluation on the Public Safety Performance of Peace Officers in Barangay Gulod, Novaliches, Quezon City, and aims to assess their effectiveness in maintaining peace and order within the community. Using a descriptive quantitative research design, data were collected through a survey questionnaire administered to fifty (50) respondents comprising ten (10) police officers and forty (40) citizens of Barangay Gulod. The study focuses on evaluating the level of performance of peace officers in terms of crime prevention, response time, patrol visibility, law enforcement, and community relations. The study examines the public safety performance of peace officers in maintaining security, enforcing laws, and promoting community trust, while also analyzing differences in perception based on demographic profile such as age, sex, civil status, educational attainment, and length of residency. Purposive sampling was used to select respondents who could provide relevant insights regarding the performance of peace officers in the barangay. Statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and standard deviation were used to analyze and interpret the collected data. Despite continuous efforts in maintaining peace and order, findings indicate that the performance of peace officers varies in areas such as patrol visibility, responsiveness to incidents, enforcement of local ordinances, and communication with residents. The results reveal that while peace officers are generally perceived as performing their duties satisfactorily, certain aspects such as response efficiency and community engagement require further improvement. These findings highlight the need for strengthened public safety measures and enhanced service delivery. Based on the identified findings, the study suggests strengthening the public safety performance of peace officers in Barangay Gulod through regular patrol operations, improved response mechanisms, continuous training programs, and stronger coordination with barangay officials and community members. The study emphasizes that maintaining public safety requires collaboration between peace officers and residents to promote trust, accountability, and effective law enforcement. Through these combined efforts, Barangay Gulod can achieve a safer and more secure environment for its residents.
