Abstract
This study looked at how parental separation affects the well-being and academic performance of students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. It wanted to know how parental separation influences students' emotional adjustment, academic engagement, attendance, punctuality and submission of requirements. The study used a descriptive-correlational research design to see the relationship between parental separation, emotional well-being and academic outcomes. One hundred college students who had experienced separation were chosen for the study. Data were collected using tools like the Parental Separation Impact Scale, Academic Performance Rating Scale, Emotional Well-being Scale and Sibling Relationship Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using statistics and Spearman’s rho correlation because the data were not normally distributed, with a significance level set at 0.05. The study found that most of the students were adults aged 18 to 21 and most of them had experienced parental separation for more than six years. With family problems the students generally did well in school attended classes regularly and were on time. Many students said they were motivated to succeed in school. Although some students felt stressed and had some problems, they did not often miss deadlines or skip classes. The study also found that sibling relationships helped students cope with problems. Students said they could talk openly with their siblings and get support from them which helped them deal with stress. Overall, the students handled separation well. The study found a significant relationship between parental separation, emotional well-being and academic performance, which means that parental separation can affect students' emotional well-being and academic performance. Even though the relationship was weak the study found that parental separation can cause stress that may affect academic performance. However, many students found ways to cope with their problems and did well in school over time. The study shows that schools should have support systems, such, as counseling services, teacher awareness and special programs to help students who are experiencing parental separation.
