Abstract

This study highlights the importance of the Police Patrol Program in preventing crime and improving public safety. Patrol operations, including foot, motorcycle, and cyber patrol, enhance visibility and response time. Despite challenges such as traffic congestion and limited fuel, officers remain committed to maintaining peace and order through effective response systems and community cooperation. This study used a descriptive quantitative design to assess how police patrol visibility affects public safety perceptions in Barangay Punturin. Data were gathered from 80 residents, officers, and business owners using a validated questionnaire. Results were analyzed through frequency, percentage, ranking, and weighted mean using a 4-point Likert scale to evaluate patrol effectiveness. The results show that the Police Patrol Program in Barangay Punturin is perceived as highly effective in preventing crime and promoting safety. Increased patrol visibility and rotational schedules were rated very effective. Community engagement and emergency response were also positively evaluated. ANOVA results revealed significant differences among patrol frequency, engagement, and satisfaction, with satisfaction receiving the highest mean score. Despite the overall positive evaluation, the study also identified areas needing improvement. The lack of adequate lighting in certain common areas was the most frequently cited issue affecting crime prevention efforts. Poorly lit environments may create opportunities for criminal activity and reduce the sense of security among residents. Consequently, respondents strongly recommended linking patrol initiatives with infrastructure improvements, particularly the installation of additional lighting in dark or isolated areas. Establishing stronger feedback mechanisms between residents and patrol officers was also suggested to enhance communication and allow community members to report concerns more efficiently. Overall, the findings affirm that the Police Patrol Program in Barangay Punturin is effective and well-received by the community. However, continued efforts to improve communication, strengthen community partnerships, and address environmental safety concerns can further enhance its impact. By integrating operational efficiency with proactive community engagement and infrastructure support, the program can sustain and potentially increase its effectiveness in preventing crime and ensuring long-term public safety.
