Abstract

Barangay San Vicente in Diliman, Quezon City is one of the urban communities experiencing concerns related to noise pollution due to residential congestion, commercial activities, and increasing population density. Excessive noise from vehicles, loud music, social gatherings, and other community activities has become a common source of disturbance among residents. Although the barangay implements peace and order measures to control noise pollution, challenges such as inconsistent enforcement, limited manpower, and varying levels of community cooperation continue to affect the effectiveness of these efforts. These issues may impact the overall satisfaction of residents regarding the barangay’s response. The main problem addressed in this study is the level of community satisfaction with the barangay’s peace and order response against noise pollution. The study used a quantitative descriptive research design to assess and evaluate the implementation, enforcement, community support, and policy measures related to noise control. A structured questionnaire was used as the primary data-gathering instrument. The findings of the study revealed that respondents generally agree with the barangay’s peace and order response against noise pollution. Implementation and enforcement efforts obtained an overall weighted mean with an interpretation of “Agree, ” indicating that respondents recognize the presence of barangay actions such as patrol visibility and complaint handling. Community support also received an overall interpretation of “Agree, ” showing that residents cooperate and support enforcement activities. Furthermore, barangay policies related to noise control were also rated as “Agree, ” suggesting that policies are present but may still require strengthening. The results indicate that while the barangay’s response to noise pollution is positively assessed, there remains room for improvement in areas such as policy updating, awareness dissemination, and consistency of enforcement. The findings suggest that strengthening coordination between barangay officials and residents, enhancing information campaigns, and improving monitoring mechanisms may further increase community satisfaction. Overall, the study highlights the importance of continuous evaluation and improvement of local peace and order strategies to effectively address noise pollution concerns.
