Abstract

Barangay Sauyo in Quezon City is a growing community facing safety issues like theft, burglary, and minor disturbances. Despite the efforts of tanods, police, and community members, traditional measures such as manual reporting and routine patrols often lead to slow responses and limited monitoring. To address these gaps, an interactive Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system has been introduced, providing real-time monitoring, two-way communication, and immediate incident alerts. Complemented by AI-assisted programs like the No Contact Apprehension Program (NCAP), it enhances surveillance, improves coordination between officials and residents, and helps reduce crime. This study evaluates the system’s effectiveness and provides recommendations to strengthen local safety protocols. The study used a quantitative descriptive design to evaluate the effectiveness of the Interactive CCTV System in improving the safety and security procedures of Barangay Sauyo. It examined respondents’ demographic profiles, assessed the system’s impact on evidence gathering, facility management, and community engagement, and identified implementation challenges. Data from sixty respondents were collected through a validated questionnaire and analyzed using statistical tools, including frequency, percentage, weighted mean, ranking, and One-Way ANOVA. The results indicated that respondents strongly agreed that the Interactive CCTV System effectively enhances safety and security, particularly through real-time monitoring, accurate incident recording, and improved community involvement. Despite technical issues such as malfunctioning cameras and slow footage retrieval, there was no significant difference in assessments when grouped by demographic profile. This research used a quantitative research approach to assess the effectiveness of the Interactive CCTV System in Barangay Sauyo. Data from residents, officials, and CCTV operators provided insights on its impact on evidence collection, facility monitoring, community engagement, public safety, and operational challenges. Purposive sampling was used to select participants with direct knowledge and experience in barangay security operations and the use of the CCTV system. The data gathered provided insights into the system’s performance in evidence collection, facility monitoring, community engagement, overall public safety, and the operational challenges faced during its implementation.
