Abstract

Cyberbullying involves repeated harmful behavior through digital platforms, including social media, messaging applications, gaming platforms, and mobile devices. It may include spreading false information, publishing embarrassing material, sending abusive messages, impersonating others, or using generative artificial intelligence to harass victims. Its anonymity, rapid dissemination, broad audience reach, and persistent online availability make it a particular concern for adolescents. This study examined the effects of cyberbullying among adolescents in Barangay 178, Kiko, Camarin, Caloocan City. The study used a descriptive research design and standardized survey questionnaires to collect quantitative information on respondents’ experiences, perceptions, and the reported prevalence, forms, and effects of cyberbullying among adolescents. The most frequently reported problem was the need to encourage open communication (17.86%), as adolescents were often reluctant to report cyberbullying, making accurate data collection difficult. Respondents also identified challenges in evaluating the effects of cyberbullying separately from other social and individual stressors (13.27%). The findings highlight the importance of safe and trusted reporting channels that encourage adolescents to disclose cyberbullying. Community residents and law enforcement agencies should strengthen awareness, reporting support, and coordinated prevention measures. Additional study-specific findings are needed to support a more complete conclusion.
