Abstract

In Quezon City, Barangay Pasong Tamo is one of many barangays in Metro Manila. The enforcement of City Ordinance No. SP-2301, Series of 2014, commonly known as the curfew ordinance, aims to promote public safety, maintain peace and order, and protect minors from risks during late hours. Enforcing curfew ordinances is among the duties assigned to barangay officials and tanods. Through regular patrols, monitoring of public areas, and coordination with parents or guardians, barangay authorities ensure that minors comply with the prescribed curfew hours. Information drives and community awareness campaigns are also conducted to educate residents about the importance of the ordinance and its role in safeguarding the youth. A descriptive research design was employed to provide a clear and accurate picture of the current state of curfew enforcement in the barangay. The respondents consisted of barangay officials, barangay tanod, and selected residents of Barangay Pasong Tamo, ensuring perspectives from both implementers and community members. Data were gathered through questionnaires and interview guides containing structured questions designed to capture respondents’ experiences, perceptions, and observations. The collected data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, and tabular presentations. This methodological approach enabled the researcher to systematically assess enforcement practices, identify key issues, and present evidence-based conclusions regarding the ordinance’s impact on the community. The result shows that survey responses were collected, analyzed, and interpreted to assess the enforcement of City Ordinance No. SP-2301, Series of 2014, in Barangay Pasong Tamo. However, it did not report study-specific numerical or qualitative findings. The study identified ineffective and inconsistent enforcement of City Ordinance No. SP-2301 as a concern in Barangay Pasong Tamo. Reported implementation challenges included limited public awareness, misunderstanding of the ordinance, resistance from some community members, insufficient personnel, and inadequate training. These issues indicate a need for stronger information campaigns, enforcement capacity, and community cooperation.
