Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is one of the common problems in the Philippines, including Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City, where children and youth are exposed to several risk factors such as family-related problems, peer pressure, lack of parental guidance, poverty, and limited access to youth programs. Barangay records showing cases of children at risk and disciplinary cases highlight the need for continuous strengthened preventive efforts. Aligned with the Republic Act 9344, known as the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, amended by Republic Act 10630, an act strengthening the juvenile justice system in the Philippines. The purpose of this study is to examine the community-based support program for juvenile delinquency prevention in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City. A quantitative research design was used to gather and analyze the data for the study. The respondents consisted of fifty (50) individuals from the Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City, including parents or guardians, (BCPC) officers, (WCCS) officers, and (LSWDO) personnel. The data gathered was analyzed using statistical tools such as frequency distribution, percentage, weighted mean, ranking, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). This research examined the effectiveness of community-based support programs. The finding reveals adults (50% aged 36-45) married and college-educated (one-way ANOVA results that show the different perceptions of the support program of the respondent group). Parents/guardians and LSWDO respondents recognize no significant result, while BCPC and WCCS personnel show significant differences in prioritizing enhancing community-based support programs. Research reveals the community-based support program has no significant effects among respondents of parents/guardians and LSWDO; however, BCPC and WCCS show significant effects, highlighting the enhancement for community-based support programs.
