Abstract
Reckless driving is a critical issue that significantly contributes to traffic accidents and endangers the lives of road users, resulting in a larger number of fatalities and injuries. Previous research has shown that reckless driving is influenced by factors such as poor road discipline, lack of traffic law awareness, and risky driving behavior, which often lead to accidents and safety issues (Segun et al., 2024; Setyowati et al., 2024). Although, limited local studies have specifically examined how these factors affect communities at the barangay level, that creating the need for this research. The goal of this research is to identify the root causes and what are the possible effects of reckless driving practices and their various impacts on the community in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City, to provide evidence-based recommendations for enhancing public safety and mitigate the effects of traffic-related incidents. The method used in this research to gather data from selected commuters, drivers and traffic enforcers in Barangay Commonwealth is the descriptive research method and survey questionnaires. The results showed that highlighting the importance of stricter traffic enforcement, driver education, and community awareness to help reduce accidents and improve road safety through giving informational brochure for seminar. Drivers should encourage follow road regulations, cooperate with traffic authorities to help reduce accidents. Traffic Enforcers should indicate greater of Traffic Enforcers visibility on road that leads to lesser traffic law violations and accidents, especially in areas that prone in the accidents. Future researchers should expand the finding of cause and effects of reckless driving by further studies for additional factors about reckless driving.
